Brief description of site and current use
Since Dumitru Bragadiru had the special care towards his employees
just because being from poor family too, Bragadiru Palace (Colosseum) from
1894 was meant to be a place where employees of brewery can relax and have
fun. It included a projection room, shops and a ballroom inside. After the WW
2 family left the country. Communism in 1948 caused that brewery Bragadiru
was renamed as Brewery Rahova. The Colosseum served the same purpose, but
was renamed as Lenin Cultural House. Dramatic deterioration in whole factory
begun with a massive demolition and construction of the new Civic Centre in
the 80s, the dictator Ceausescu project. New House Academy, the
"chicken" House Republic destroyed the small street around factory.
After 1900 complex become totally abandoned, however, there are attempts of
inheritors to invest into complex but all of them were rejected because it is
not accordance with legal framework. Bragadiru´s descendants gained only Palace
Rahovei in 2000. It was reconstructed and it is used for balls, weddings and
special events. The abandoned rest of complex is going to be redeveloped in
order to build a commercial mall there. Some of buildings were demolished;
some of them are going to be rebuilt. Project idea is to build up 4* Hotel with
Luxury Suites and Conference Centre, luxury apartments, shops, restaurants,
offices
