Brief description of site and current use

Rehabilitation of the neo-renaissance mansion in Kospoda by measures to increase demands

This object was built 1903 and has a turbulent history of chance of owner and building alterations. It got its appearance in the style of neo-renaissance at the beginning of the 20th century.

The mansion was used as a convalescent home for children and as a residential home for disabled persons. After the relocation of the residential home the mansion and the summer house were out of use.

This mansion is a collector´s item and is suitable for just a limited user layer. It was therefore important to compile informations about this special property and to make them accessible for interested parties.

By the activities of the LEG Thüringen in the model project for valorization of brownfields in the administrative district Greiz and Saale-Orla the revitalization of the mansion was possible. The used strategy involved the issue of an appealing brochure with multitudinous pictures, preparatory land use plan, informations about structural conditions and floor plans. Partner in sponsoring was the Kreissparkasse Saale-Orla.

The brochure had a circulation of 500 copies and was spread on the property fair EXPO REAL in Munich. Additionally the sale of the mansion was put out to tender. The owner was enabled to place the property on the market appropriate. The mansion was alienated 2009 to a Dutch building contractor and functions now as the home for his family, as a rental property and as a place for cultural events. By this it gets back its former glory.
