  • Specific localization – Industrial site, surrounded by residential areas - the former cloth factory was based on two sites separated by residential plots.
  • Local involvement and stakeholders´ collaboration (activities of politicians, community, public, NGO´s) - the City of Kamenz is planning to develop and re-establish the derelict estates in combination with a project to revitalize the area as a nature reserve.

Brief description of site and current use

Industrial production was stopped in 1992. According to technical analysis, the property was not contaminated. In 2004, the buildings were partially removed to prevent danger of collapse wastes got disposed. A complete removal of the buildings was not permitted because parts of the buildings are preserved as national monument. In 2008, the City of Kamenz bought the sites; demolished in 2009 the remaining buildings financed by EFRE - program and installed a park around the national monument.
